About Office of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) is the local government unit responsible for disaster management, emergency response, and community resilience in Philippine municipalities.

Mandates and Responsibilities

Disaster Prevention and Mitigation

Identifying, assessing, and managing hazards, vulnerabilities, and risks; creating and maintaining local hazard and risk maps; and integrating disaster risk reduction (DRR) into local development plans and budgets.

Disaster Preparedness

Organizing and conducting training, drills, and public awareness campaigns at the municipal and barangay levels; establishing early warning systems; and formulating comprehensive, integrated local DRRM plans.

Disaster Response

Organizing and coordinating emergency response teams, managing evacuation centers, and overseeing the delivery of basic services during disasters, including recommending preemptive or forced evacuations when necessary.

Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery

Assessing post-disaster damages, needs, and losses; and assisting the community in rebuilding, recovering, and "building back better."
